Penguin Ride

A person rides a polar bird across ice at a size that is wrong and still plausible. The cold setting keeps everything calm, and that calm is what makes the scale read as a joke.

The frame is flat and pale everywhere except the pair, so the eye has nowhere else to go.

The bird stands tall enough to carry an adult and no taller. Around twice human height keeps the proportion comic. Past that it stops being a ride and becomes a creature shot.

Light is flat and cold, the way polar overcast is, with very little shadow on the ground. Blue ice walls or a pressure ridge behind give the scale something to be measured against.

The gait is a stride, so the rider sits upright and relaxed with their hands loose.

Use it for a winter campaign, a cold setting, or a piece that wants the absurd played completely straight.

Skip it anywhere warm. The look needs ice for the scale cue and for the quality of the light.

Dolphin Ride is the warm water version, with spray, a wake and a rider leaning into the speed. Penguin Ride is slow and cold, and the motion is a walk.

Puffin Ride is the same family in the air, over cliffs, with wings spread and a long drop below. If the bird is airborne, you are not in this one.

Scale runs away. Asked for a large bird, a model returns something the size of a building and the frame turns into a monster shot. Say about twice human height.

The second failure is warm light. Ask for cold flat overcast daylight and blue ice, or the ground reads as sand.
