Orbital Presence: A figure floats in space with the planet curving below.

What it is for

A person floating in space with the planet curving underneath. The curve is the single detail that says orbit instead of a high place.

Scale does the work. One body against a horizon that bends puts the viewer somewhere they have only ever seen in footage.

How it works

Bend the horizon across the frame. A straight line puts the subject back inside the atmosphere, which is the failure the entry warns about.

The atmosphere reads as a thin bright rim along the planet's edge, fading into absolute black above it. There is no haze in that black, and no stars near the lit limb, because the planet is far brighter than they are.

Light is one hard source with no fill at all. Shadows on the subject go to black, and bounce from the planet leaves a faint cool edge on whatever faces it.

When to use it

Use it for a reveal, a title frame, a science piece, or any shot that needs the largest available sense of distance.

Skip it where a face has to carry a performance. At this scale a suit and a silhouette are most of what reads.

Told apart from its neighbours

Earth Zoom is a camera move. One unbroken push runs from orbit down to a detail on the ground, and the shot travels the whole way.

Ask whether the frame arrives anywhere. A continuous descent is Earth Zoom. A held weightless frame with the curve below is this one.

The prompt

Replace the blanks, keep the rest. Then run it on a video model.

<subject> floating in space with the curve of the planet below, atmosphere rim glowing, absolute black beyond, weightless drift

Run it

What goes wrong

The horizon comes back flat and the shot reads as a mountain top at dusk. Say the planet curves below and the sky above is absolute black.

The second failure is gravity. Ask for weightless drift, with the body turning slowly and nothing underfoot.

Leave out

ground, horizon line

Watch for

Curve the planet. A flat horizon puts them back in the atmosphere.
