Visual Sandbox vs Meshy

One sells a hundred meshes a month. One sells one mesh.

In short

  • Meshy plans run $20 to $100 a month for 1,000 to 8,000 credits, about 100 to 800 assets.
  • At full use that is about $0.20 a mesh on Pro. Hunyuan 3D 3.1 is $0.63 a mesh here.
  • Free gives 100 credits a month under a CC BY licence.
  • Meshy has a CLI, an MCP server and plugins for every engine. So do we, minus the plugins.

Our take. Use Meshy if you make dozens of meshes a month and want the toolchain. Use Visual Sandbox for the odd mesh with no plan.

Key takeaways

Is Visual Sandbox a good Meshy alternative?

Where we win

No subscription
Nothing to cancel. A quiet month costs $0.
A dollar price before you sign in
Hunyuan 3D 3.1 reads $0.63 a mesh. That is the whole price list for 3D.
The balance does not expire
Meshy's plan credits do not accumulate. Ours never reset.
Three doors an agent can use
The CLI, the MCP server and the API, on the same balance as the web app.
Image, video and audio too
Nano Banana 2 at $0.09, Veo 3.1 at $0.25 a second, in the same balance as the mesh.

Where Meshy wins

About $0.20 on Pro and $0.125 on Ultra, against our $0.63.
The whole toolchain
Texturing, remeshing, rigging, an animation library of 500 clips, and a 3D agent.
Plugins everywhere
Blender, Unity, Unreal, Godot, Maya, 3ds Max, Roblox Studio and the slicers.
A CLI and an MCP server
Both in the footer, next to the REST API.
A free plan
100 credits a month and ten downloads, under CC BY 4.0.

Worth checking

Full use is the condition
Pro at $20 for 100 assets is $0.20 each. Make 20 and it is $1.00. Make none and it is $20.
Ten credits is the cheapest asset
'Up to 100 assets' on 1,000 credits. Higher settings cost more, and the page does not say how much.
No yearly discount in the FAQ
$20 a month or $240 a year. A promo timer can lower it for a while.
The live page shows your currency
A Canadian visitor sees CA$. The USD figures here come from Meshy's own FAQ.
We have one 3D model
Hunyuan 3D 3.1, no texturing pass, no rigging, no animation library.

Allowance or balance

Move the slider. The plan moves in steps.

Meshy's individual plans, priced by the month, against our balance, counted in meshes. Meshy's own asset counts set the rungs.

  • Pro covers about 100 meshes. The 101st costs a Premium plan, at **$40**.
  • In a month you make nothing, we cost **$0** and the plan still bills.
  • Fill any Meshy plan and it beats our **$0.63** a mesh. Below about 32 meshes, Pro does not.

Meshy resets the allowance every month. Our balance carries.
