What it is for
Shallow focus is how the eye reads small: a real camera close to a tiny object cannot hold everything sharp. Faking that on a rendered scene makes a viewer read the whole world as a model they could pick up.
How it works
The scene sits on a base with the ground cut away at the edges, floating against a plain background. The camera is high and three quarter on. Depth of field is exaggerated far past what the scale would really give. Colour is pushed slightly, and small props fill the space.
When to use it
Use it for an app icon, an explainer or any picture that has to show a whole system at a glance. Avoid it when a subject needs to feel large, because everything in this style is small.
Told apart from its neighbours
Stylised PBR is a character rather than a world. Voxel builds the same idea from cubes. Papercraft Render is a material choice that can be applied inside a diorama.
Where it is used
It carries an app icon, a landing page illustration, an infographic and any picture of a process.

The prompt
Replace the blanks with your own character, keep the rest. Then run it on an image model.
<character>, diorama render, a small complete scene built on a floating rounded base with the ground cut away at the edges, the whole thing seen from a high three quarter angle, an extremely shallow depth of field that puts the near and far edges out of focus as though photographed close with a macro lens, everything slightly oversaturated, small props and details scattered through the scene, soft even light with a warm key
What goes wrong
A full environment with a horizon comes back. Ask for the ground to be cut away into a floating base and for a shallow depth of field at both the near and far edges.
Leave out
a full size environment, deep focus, a horizon, a flat background, a cropped edge
Watch for
The cut away base is what makes it a diorama rather than a scene. Ask for the ground to end in a rounded or hexagonal base floating on a plain ground.
