What it is for
Soviet space posters are the most optimistic thing the Soviet poster tradition produced, and they read as hopeful rather than as political to most modern audiences.
The visual kit is also unusually clean: one figure, one arc, a flat starfield. It composes itself.
How it works

Sweep one red orbital arc across the whole sheet. That curve is the composition.
Keep the space elements flat and graphic: stars as dots, planets as circles, one small rocket with a flame trail. Deep blue, black, red, white and silver, with one short slogan in bold condensed capitals.
When to use it
Use it for a science festival, an astronomy night, a planetarium, a school science fair, a launch event, a sci-fi film season.
Leave it alone when the subject is earthbound and small. The style promises scale.
Told apart from its neighbours
General Soviet propaganda is painted, earthbound and rhetorical. The space posters are graphic, airbrushed and hopeful.
Synthwave uses the same deep blue and glow but with a grid horizon and 1980s nostalgia.
Constructivism has the diagonals but none of the airbrush.
Where it was used
The programme produced posters throughout the 1960s, peaking around Gagarin's flight in 1961 and the Cosmos series that followed. The Soviet space poster archive was widely reprinted in the West from the 2000s, which is why the look is familiar without the politics.

What goes wrong
The model returns a photographic space scene. Ask for flat graphic stars and planets with an airbrushed figure, not photography.
